RUGBY UNION - Experienced front-row pair return for Coventry Rugby's clash with Ampthill

EXPERIENCED front-rowers Jordon Poole and Toby Trinder return to Coventry Rugby’s starting line-up for their home game against Ampthill.

Cov’s skipper and vice-captain started from the bench in Coventry’s 49-31 win against Caldy last time out.

Poole and Trinder return to the starting side and alongside Senitiki Nayalo have more than 270 Coventry appearances under their collective belts.

However, Alex Rae’s injury-hit side name five loan players in their run-on XV.

Bath lock Mackenzie Graham joins Nayalo in the engine room with Suva Ma’asi on the openside flank with Aaron Hinkley suspended.

Ma’asi plays alongside number eight Chester Owen and Tom Ball.

Coventry’s bench contains five forwards including Bath’s Jack Bennett while Dan Green provides youthful back-five cover.

And Sale Sharks’ loosehead prop Ralph McEachran has also returned to the club as cover for Trinder.

Behind the scrum, on loan scrum-half Sam Maunder partners leading scorer Tommy Mathews.

And Daf-Rhys Tiueti and Tom Hitchcock combined in midfield in the absence of Oli Morris.

Top try-scorer Ryan Hutler, David Opoku and Charlie Robson play in the back three with Glasgow’s Logan Trotter on the bench.

Rae said: “We’ve won three league games in a row in this block and we’re keen to keep that run going with big performances this weekend then at Hartpury before we have a week off.

“Ampthill are a tenacious, tough side who are always difficult to play against so we’re expecting a good test.”
