HEAD COACH Richie Squires believes his fearless Coventry Bears side were highly unfortunate to come away from their trip to South Yorkshire pointless, after going down 18-13 to Doncaster RLFC.
The visitors led 13-12 at the break, after Dan Coates converted his own try, in addition to a Kadeem Williams score, before kicking a drop goal for the crucial half-time advantage, only to fall away in the second period.
Remaining eighth ahead of an end-of-season trip to Rochdale Hornets in seventh, Squires gave a positive appraisal of his troops.
“It was another very consistent performance from ourselves, we took the game to Doncaster with nothing to lose,” said the Bears chief.
“I think the boys were really relaxed and just played with confidence.
“We had a very young and inexperienced bench – which was great – but that little bit of game knowledge just showed for Doncaster in the end.”
