FOUR members from Octavian Droobers Orienteering Club have received call-ups to Team GB after impressing in recent months.
Will Gardner, the top-ranked orienteer from the club and from Britain, will jet out to Guangzhou in China to represent Team GB in the IOF World Cup final at the end of October – the fourth event in the World Cup series.
He was involved in the first event in the series in Helsinki, Finland in June, and will compete in the Middle Distance, Mixed Sprint Relay and Sprint events.
Duncan Birtwistle and Nathan Lawson meanwhile, will represent Great Britain in the Euromeeting in Estonia on September 14 and 15, with the pair racing on two Middle Distance courses, including a pursuit race.
Elsewhere, Felix Lunn will head to Stockholm in Sweden in August to attend a training camp for the national junior regional squad.
There, he will join 17 of the most promising orienteers of 16 and 17 years of age, to compete and train in the ten-day camp.
Lunn was selected after impressing in the regional and national selection races, and is currently in the Kolmarden forest in Sweden competing at the international O-Ringen event, attended by over 20,000 competitiors from 40 other countries.
Octavian Droobers are always open to newcomers and returning orienteers to join them for upcoming events at the club.
