A CROWDFUNDING campaign set up to support Coventry United’s Ladies’ employees has reached its £10,000 target and has now been stretched to £25,000.
The Red and Greens players and staff were made redundant just days before Christmas after the club entered voluntary liquidation.
And Michael Mogan MBE, whose two daughters play for the club’s under-10’s side, launched a crowdfunding campaign with every penny raised given directly to team members.
The target has now been stretched to £25,000 and currently sits at just over £14,000 and needs to be met by Friday, January 21.
Mogan’s appeal on the crowdfunding page reads: “Every penny raised will make a difference and show how much the people of Coventry (and the sporting world) cares.
“My twins play for the under-10’s and have loved attending home matches and getting to know the players.
“These ladies have battled superbly all season and always have time to sign an autograph and inspire the next generation.
“It seems apt to try to raise some funds and to give them directly to the team members to show our gratitude and support.
“Every penny raised will go to the women. Please help if you can.”
Players were told the club would go into liquidation on Tuesday, January 4 and their contracts immediately terminated.
