THE SKY Blues look set to play six pre-season friendlies in preparation for the 2016/17 League One season as the team return to training today (Thursday).

Tony Mowbray has put together a busy pre-season schedule which includes a six-day tour in the South Eastern region of Fürstenfeld.

A short trip to Nuneaton is where it all begins for the Sky Blues for the club’s annual visit to Liberty Way on July 9 before the squad head out to Austria two days later for a training camp which will end with a fixture against a local side on July 15.

When the squad return to England they will have four days to prepare for another local fixture against Rugby Town on July 19, which will involve a mixture of first team and youth team players.

Mowbray’s side will then head over the Welsh border to face Newport County at the Spytty Park Stadium on July 23 before a difficult mid-week trip to Norwich City at Carrow Road awaits three days later, which will see the likes of James Maddison and Jacob Murphy come up against their former team mates.

Pre-season ends with another away fixture at the Keepmoat Stadium as the Sky Blues take on relegated Doncaster Rovers before the 2016/17 League One campaign kicks of at Swindon Town on July 6.
