ANOTHER major competition has seen plenty of Sky Blues fans make the trip over to France but England’s journey at the European Championships came to an end earlier this week.
Roy Hodgson’s side were knocked out of the competition by Iceland on Monday night and the search to win a major tournament will now stretch to 52 years.
Throughout the competition the Coventry Observer has been keeping tabs on Sky Blues fans who followed Hodgson’s side at the matches across the channel.
In our final column, we take a look at some of the best pictures from Euro 2016 and get the thoughts of season ticket holder Ricky Tyrrell, who witnessed Monday’s shock defeat in Nice.
“It’s absolutely sickening,” said Ricky, who is also a season ticket holder with the Sky Blues at the Ricoh Arena.
“That is was the worst I’ve ever felt as an England fan. The amount of money we’ve spent over the last few weeks and they serve up that performance – it’s embarrassing! It was another great day in Nice which was ruined by 90 minutes of football.
“But I can’t complain too much though. We’ve had a great time in France and will never forget the experience. I’m sure I’ll be at Slovakia away in September to do it all again on the road to the World Cup and the new season is just round the corner!”
