WASPS have announced the signing of Scotland international Gordon Reid on a short-team deal.
The 34-year-old is set to provide crucial cover at loosehead-prop as Wasps’ selection issues continue to mount.
With Ben Harris and Tom West out injured and Robin Hislop away on Scotland duty – Reid’s arrival eases head coach Lee Blackett’s problems in the position.
Reid has been capped 41 times by Scotland and has previously played for Glasgow Warriors and London Irish.
The forward has been playing for Scottish Premiership outfit Marr RFC this season, having played for Super 6 side Ayrshire Bulls in 2019/20, before a brief stint with Northampton Saints.
Blackett said: “We are very happy to bring in someone of Gordon’s experience as short-term cover for us.
“Gordon will be vital for us, while we are without Ben and Westy and while Bomber could be away with Scotland.
“Gordon has played a lot of games at the highest level and as an experienced prop, he will bring a lot to our scrum.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed having him as part of the group, in the short time he has been with us, and we can’t wait to continue working with him.”
New arrival Reid added: “I am delighted to get the opportunity to come back and play in the Gallagher Premiership.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Marr, but this was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.
“Wasps are a great club with a lot of heritage, and it is fantastic to be part of a club like that.”
Wasps are in Premiership Rugby Cup action this weekend as they travel to Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, November 13 with kick-off at 3pm at Kingston Park.
