RUGBY UNION - Wasps name team to play Newcastle

Coventry Editorial 1st Oct, 2021   0

WASPS have made two changes ahead of their clash with Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park tomorrow afternoon.

Sam Spink comes in for his first Premiership start at outside centre whilst Jimmy Gopperth plays at inside centre.

The duo replace Malakai Fekitoa and Michael Le Bourgeois who have both been ruled out through injury.

Coach Lee Blackett has retained the same pack that impressed against Bristol Bears at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Bomber Hislop, Tom Cruse and Jeff Toomaga-Allen start in the front row with new recruits Elliott Stooke and Vaea Fifita in the second row.

Brad Shields captains the side after he avoided a ban despite being sent off against the Bears and is joined in the back-row by Gabriel Oghre and Tom Willis.

Ali Crossdale starts at full-back with Josh Bassett and Marcus Watson on the wings whilst Dan Robson and Jacob Umaga link up half-back.

There are also two changes amongst the replacements with Tom West returning from a knee injury and Will Simonds set to make his second Premiership appearance.

Wasps began their Premiership campaign with a 44-8 win against Bristol last weekend.
