A HOST of former fan favourites returned to Coventry on Saturday as part of the Sky Blues’ annual Legends Day which this year remembered the late Jimmy Hill and was celebrated by a thumping 6-0 win over Bury.
Over 40 former players turned out for the popular event which saw the legends introduced to fans at the Ricoh Arena at half-time.
Tributes to Hill continued throughout the day just 24 hours after a celebration of his life was held at the city’s St Michael’s Cathedral.
Another iconice figure returned on Saturday as 1987 FA Cup winner Brian Kilcline made a welcome return to the Ricoh, and he was joined by former team mates Greg Downes, Micky Gynn and Dave Bennett.
Other greats were also given a fantastic reception by the city faithful and include former player and manager Bobby Gould, popular goalkeeper Bill Glazier, former fan’s favourite Ernie Hunt and legendary striker Ian Wallace.
Fans were also treated to a Q&A session with many of the former players down in the casino after the game, with CCFPA’s Billy Bell leading a stirring rendition of the famous Sky Blues song.
