PHILLIP Harris has been selected to represent Team GB at the annual ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia next month.
The Coventry-based skater has been selected alongside Olympians Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes, as well as Christopher Boyadji, Amani Fancy and Danielle Harrison.
The annual ISU European Figure Skating Championships will see the best figure skating talent from across the world descend on Bratislava to compete for the title of European Champion in one of four disciplines; Men, Ladies, Pairs and Ice Dance.
Harris, 26, heads into next month’s event, which runs from January 25-31, high in confidence after being crowned the senior men’s National Champion for the second year running.
Accompanying the elite figure skaters in Bratislava will be Olympic Champion, Robin Cousins, who is now working as high performance manager for the National Ice Skating Association (NISA).
He said: “The selection of our elite athletes has been made on the back of a good competitive season and their recent success at the British Figure Skating Championships.
“The European Figure Skating Championships will feature many World and Olympic medallists. For Chris and Amani it’s the opportunity to gain further major competition experience, and after having to withdraw from last year’s event, Nick and Penny will be fighting for a podium spot and to re-establish themselves on the world ice stage.”
