PROMOTION hopes at Coventry United have all but faded away after Terry Anderson’s men crashed to a 2-1 loss against high flying Sporting Khalsa.
Despite putting in a strong performance, goals from Leon Miles and Craig Bannister helped Khalsa to a narrow one-goal win.
Poor defending from a corner gifted Khalsa the opening goal as an unmarked Miles managed to toe poke his effort past United keeper Rich Morris.
Khalsa’s lead didn’t last long though. It took United five minutes to equalise when Arun Wint was floored by Alex Woodhouse in the box, the referee showed no hesitation when pointing to the spot.
Though Sam Arnold went the right way, he couldn’t reach Wint’s powerful strike.
A second penalty would follow, but this time Arnold got both of his knees onto Wint’s low drive, as the side’s entered the break tied at 1-1.
Another early strike, this time a wonder strike from attacker Craig Bannister, sealed the three points for the visitors.
United are now 12th in the Midland Football League, 18 points behind league leaders Coleshill Town.
