COVENTRY Blaze forward Luke Ferrara has confirmed he will change his number from 29 to 19 ahead of the 2018/19 Elite League season.
With the number 19 now vacant following the retirement of Ryan Dingle, Ferrara, who recently signed a two-year deal with the Blaze following an impressive debut season, has taken the opportunity to grab the number which has so far brought him much success in his young career.
As part of the Sheffield Steelers with 19 on his back, Ferrara was a two-time Elite League Champion and play-off title winner.
Before then, he also lifted an English Premier League play-off trophy in his final season at the Peterborough Phantoms.
The 25-year-old Great Britain International said: “Whenever I’ve been able to, I’ve always worn number 19.
“I think I missed out to Dingle by about a week last year.
“Me and my brothers (James and Robert Ferrara) have always worn 17, 18 and 19, so growing up I only ever wore that number.
“It means a lot to me and it feels right wearing it.”
Meanwhile, new faces to the Blaze roster netminder Jordan Hedley and forward Alex Forbes have also confirmed their numbers for the new season.
Hedley, will take the number one previously worn by other goalies Alan Levers, Hayden Laverick, Adam Goss (the replacement for Hedley in Milton Keynes) and Mike Zacharias.
Forbes, who like Hedley joined the Blaze from local rivals Milton Keynes Lightning has selected number 14 as worn by past fan favourites Cale Tanaka, Jonathan Weaver, TJ Syner and before the Elite League, Simon Hunt and Mats Samuelsson.
