Former Sky Blues stars turn out for annual Golf Day

A HOST of Sky Blues legends were greeted by glorious sunshine as they took to the greens for the club’s annual Golf Day.

The event was once again hosted by Coventry City’s Former Players’ Association (CCFPA) and this year Carl Baker’s side were declared winners of the Buildbase Cup at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club last Thursday.

A total of 17 ex-players from the past were back to support the CCFPA, including the likes of Willie Carr, Bobby Gould, Steve Ogrizovic and Ian Wallace and they were joined by local businesses and friends.

Willie Car’s team came second while Gould’s team finished third, with the wooden spoon going to FA Cup hero Micky Gynn.

“It was a brilliant event,” said organiser Frank Pritchard.

“Once again it was a tremendous success and the sponsors were very generous as we raised money to keep the Association going over the next 12 months.

“Stoneliegh Deer Park Golf Club were tremendous too and looked after us brilliantly.”

After a busy day of golf, the teams enjoyed dinner together and the entertainment afterwards included a prize ceremony, auction and raffle, which was hosted by CCFPA’s very own Billy Bell.
