COVENTRY Sphinx achieved their highest-ever finish in the league following a 1-1 draw against play-off bound Anstey Nomads on the final day of the season.

Sphinx drew level courtesy of Iddriss Fuseini’s goal just past the half-hour mark after Rhys Dolan put Anstey ahead at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.

The result means Coventry finish the season in 17th place in the Northern Premier League Midlands table on 46 points.

Anstey broke the deadlock on 24 minutes when Dolan finished into the roof of the net after James Tague took the ball past Sphinx goalkeeper Charlie Woods before squaring to the scorer.

However, Sphinx equalised on 34 minutes as Fuseini placed a first-time shot into the bottom left corner after Jac Redhead’s initial effort came back off the post.
