TWO members from Octavian Droobers have been selected to represent their country in the upcoming Interland Cup competition.
Will Gardner and Lesley Ross impressed throughout the last calendar year and in earning international call-ups for England have started 2020 with a bang.
The Interland Cup is the only international orienteering competition competed in by England outside of the British Isles, with two teams from Belgium and one each from the Netherlands and France set to do battle for the title at Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire on March 1.
Meanwhile, the Droobers took part in their first West Midlands League event of the year at Brindley Heath on Channock Chase on New Year’s Day, accumulating 1461 points in all to top the table.
Tabitha Lunn (W16), Harriet Lawson (W21), Gardner (M21), Rob Bambrook (M45), Ross (W50), Chris McCartney (M50), Janet Richardson (W70) and Trevor Simpson (M80) all scored a maximum haul of 100 points in their respective age classes to help their side finish third overall at the event.
The club are next in action on Saturday for an event situation around Daventry Country Park, with participation open to orienteers of all ages and abilities, between 10am and noon.
