HELEN Dermody’s dramatic 89th-minute equaliser snatched a point for Coventry United Ladies on the road to Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
It keeps the Red and Greens ninth in the FA Women’s Championship on six points and ahead of Charlton on goal difference.
Charley Clifford’s eighth-minute opener stood for the majority of the contest, when she applied the finishing touch from Rachel Newborough’s centre, in a match that the Addicks controlled and should have seen out.
But fortune favours the brave, as Dermody found the back of the net after picking up on a mis-hit shot from Nikki Miles to deny the hosts a first win of the season.
Coventry are in FA WSL Cup action tonight (7.30pm) in their final Group A fixture at Sheffield United, also their last game of 2019.
The Blades currently top the group, while Coventry are playing for pride having already been eliminated from the competition.
They return with a home game against Crystal Palace on Sunday January 12 to kick off the New Year.
