COVENTRY & North Warwickshire kept themselves above the Birmingham League Division Two drop zone with a confidence-boosting four-wicket victory over Sutton Coldfield.
Sutton were put into bat after losing the toss but made little headway as Harry Horsley (5-14) and George Neal (5-22) tore through the visitors’ line-up to bowl them out for 106 inside 46 overs.
Only Sunni-Ryder Berridge (22), Mohammed Usman (18) and Asim Tanvir (12) made double figures.
C&NW made hard work of their reply and found themselves 3-2 after the early departures of openers Jack Horsley and Noman Ahmed.
Wickets tumbled at 52, 68, 80 and 83 runs on the scoreboard as Sutton’s Thomas Finn (3-20) and Dinushka Nawarathnage (2-23) looked to pressure the hosts.
From 83-6, it was the partnership between Okera Bascombe (24no) and Neal (5no) which dragged C&NW to 110-6 to claim victory.
C&NW travel to Fordhouses on Saturday.
