FOOTBALL:

Bramall Lane has been chosen as the venue for the final which will take place on May 10 at 7pm.

The Sky Blues’ Under-18s booked their place in the final thanks to a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Blades’ arch rivals Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday’s play-off semi-final.

Billy Stedman, Kyle Finn and Jordan Ponticelli were on target in front of a large crowd of City fans at the Alan Higgs Centre.

The Sky Blues tasted defeat against the Blades on the opening day of the season, in what has been there only meeting in the Professional Development League during the 2016/17 campaign.

Jason Farndon’s side have now gone 18 games unbeaten in the development league and Academy boss Rich Stevens is confident the team can cap off a fantastic campaign in style.

He said: “It is a great opportunity for them to experience a game of this magnitude at a stadium like Bramall Lane.

“It is just rewards for their hard work and commitment throughout the entire season. Both players and staff have worked tirelessly to reach this stage and deserve all the success they have achieved to this point.

“We have one final fixture to cap off what has already been a fantastic campaign for the Under-18s.”
