YOUNG Sky Blues starlet midfielder Jordan Shipley has signed an extended contact.
The club announced the deal until 2020 on its website this evening, amid the January transfer window when it is expected other clubs will be eying City’s latest crop of academy graduates who are doing well in the first team.
A CCFC statement reads:
“We are delighted to confirm that midfielder Jordan Shipley has agreed a contract extension at Coventry City, until June 2020.
“The 20 year-old has broken into the side this season, making 22 appearances so far this campaign in all competitions and is on a run of 10 consecutive league starts.
“Shipley joined the Sky Blues back in May 2014 as an apprentice and has risen through the ranks at the club, signing his first professional deal back in 2016.
“Since then, Jordan has gone on to make his debut for City, when he came off the bench against Walsall at the Ricoh Arena towards the back end of the 2016/17 season.
“The midfielder scored his first goal for the club against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, when he came off the bench to score a free-kick, which was later awarded as goal of the month.
“Upon the agreement of Shipley’s contract extension, Sky Blues Manager, Mark Robins had this to say:
“I’m happy for Jordan, he has done well so far this season and he has been rewarded for his efforts and performances.
“The hard work now needs to continue over the next few years as he continues to develop at Coventry City.”
