Coventry City have signed Chelsea defender Dujon Sterling on a loan deal for next season.
The England Under 19 international defender was in the international side that won the Under 19 European Championship in 2017.
He made his full Chelsea debut last season in a 5-1 League Cup win over Nottingham Forest.
The CCFC website states: “18-year-old Sterling has come through the ranks at The Blues – as an Under-16, he was an FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League winner, scoring three goals including in the 2016 Youth Cup final. He repeated that achievement with goals in both the Youth Cup semi-final and final the following season, utilising his speed, power and adaptability to feature as wing-back, winger and central midfielder as well as right-back.”
Manager Mark Robins said:
“I’m very pleased to have signed Dujon on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season.
“We would like to thank Chelsea for loaning Dujon to us, for what is his first loan spell from the club. He worked with Adi Viveash at Chelsea, so we’re very aware of what he will bring to us.
“Dujon is someone with great pedigree and a lot of potential, as shown by his international recognition, who will add another dimension to our play.
“Though primarily a defender, he can play anywhere down the right-hand side of the pitch and makes use of his skill and pace.
“We look forward to seeing him develop during his time with us and contributing to our season.”
