COVENTRY City’s fixture list for their League Two campaign has been released this morning – and they play Notts County at home before the first away match at Grimsby Town, managed by former Sky Blues boss Russell Slade.
Former Charlton, Cardiff and Orient manager Slade was replaced in March by Mark Robins after a string of bad results compounded the Sky Blues’ drop zone performances last season under predecessors Tony Mowbray and interim manager Mark Venus.
This summer has seen a flurry of transfer activity to put the Robins stamp on the team – with a view to recruiting the right players to bounce straight back up to League One.
The season kicks off at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, August 5 against Kevin Nolan’s Magpies from Nottingham, who finished 16th in League Two last season.
They it’s up to Blundell Park the following Saturday to play a Grimsby side that ended up 14th in the same division last season.
Newport at home and Yeovil away complete the August fixtures.
Port Vale away is the Boxing Day fixture and it will be hoped a home game at Chesterfield will attract New Years Day crowds.
Both sides were relegated along with the Sky Blues last season.
The Sky Blues’ last game of the season will be at home to Morecambe.
