HEAD coach Danny Stewart confirmed 23-year-old Canadian forward Dillon Lawrence will join Coventry Blaze on a four-week trial.
The Toronto native spent last season with Edinburgh Capitals and will join the club following a summer playing in the Australian Ice Hockey League with Melbourne Ice.
In 21 appearances he registered 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.
Prior to spending his first professional season in Scotland, Lawrence iced 37 times for Boston University, helping the team to an NCAA (Hockey East) regular and post-season Championship.
Edinburgh-based Lawrence, who has a British passport but is classed as an import under Elite League rules, will fly into Coventry shortly ahead of the club’s pre-season campaign which begins with back-to-back fixtures against Cardiff Devils on Saturday at Ice Arena Wales and Sunday at Skydome Arena in Coventry.
Stewart said: “Dillon is a big young kid with some skill.
“We wanted to add the extra body so we don’t go into pre-season short.
“He has every opportunity to impress during his trial and we look forward to getting him here with the guys.”
