A COVENTRY resident set a new world record at the weekend.

Piotr Klin, from Lublin in Poland, set a new UCI World Masters Hour record in the Polish velodrome of Arena Pruszków on Saturday.

His distance of 49.649km beat the previous record for the 30-34 age group of 48.234km set by Britain’s Ryan Davies, adding a further feather to the cap of Klin – who is a three-time Polish Masters National Time Trial champion.

The feat has fulfilled a two-year ambition for Klin, who works as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick.

He now hopes to go one better than his second place in 2017 at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Time Trial in Poznan in August.
