Chris Stokes nears first team return after knee injury setback

Coventry Editorial 4th Jan, 2017 Updated: 4th Jan, 2017   0

FOOTBALL: DEFENDER Chris Stokes made his long-awaited return from injury in a behind closed doors friendly for the club’s under-23s against Birmingham City.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since picking up a serious knee injury in the match away at Blackpool back in March.

The injury put Stokes out of action for the remainder of last season and further damage to his medial knee ligament last summer has delayed his first team comeback.

But Stokes, who signed a one-year contract extension last summer, played a full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw away at Birmingham on Tuesday and will be looking to build up his match fitness ahead of a first team return.
