Cardall commits future to Wasps

Coventry Editorial 1st Feb, 2021   0

HEAD coach Lee Blackett says it was the clear desire to improve by lock Tim Cardall that lead to the 24-year-old’s contract being extended at the club.

Now in his third year with Wasps, Cardall has appeared 25 times for the Ricoh Arena club since breaking into the first-team, having originally started out with Nottingham Rugby.

And with the Huntingdon native now set to remain with the club beyond the foreseeable future, the Black and Gold’s chief is hopeful of much more to come from the player.

“Tim has been a vital member of the strong group of locks at the club, as well as being a very popular member of the squad,” Blackett said.

“He has had a really good last 12 months and shown a great appetite to learn over the last few seasons, so we are all looking forward to working with him further in the coming years.”

In the case of the second-row himself, Cardall was faced with no doubts over staying put in the Midlands.

“It was an easy decision for me to commit my future here,” he said.

“We have a really good group of players and staff and I’m excited to continue working with them.

“I’m really enjoying my time at the club and I have loved getting the opportunities to play recently. As a club we have a really good environment and I’m very excited about being part of the clubs future, as I feel I have a lot more to give.”

The news comes as the latest development from the club’s playing staff, after announcing the arrivals of Saracens back Ali Crossdale and Ealing Trailfinders tighthead-prop Elliot Millar-Mills last week – the duo set to join at the season end.
