COVENTRY School of Taekwon-Do took four medals in a successful showing at the British Championships in Worcester.
A gold, two silvers and a bronze were claimed by the club’s fighters at the University of Worcester Arena, which played host to more than 1,300 competitors in the biggest large martial arts event in the United Kingdom.
Instructor Russell Bromage got the medal chase under way with a bronze in the individual adult black belt event, going down in the semi-final to the eventual winner.
There was no rest for Bromage as he then took part in tag team sparring with Jackson White and Joseph Moore, with the trio winning the British title.
Ola Sergiew, a debutant at the championships, won a silver medal in the girls’ junior division, while Dave Gornisiewicz acquired a silver in the boys’ equivalent.
Bromage said: “I’m incredibly proud of all those students that took part, and especially those who came away with a medal.
“It just shows the hard work and dedication that they put into their training. We’ll be training hard next year with half an eye on the European City of Culture World Championships, which are being held at the Skydome Arena in 2021.”
