BRINKLOW under-15s went goal crazy in their Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League clash with Christ the King on Sunday – thrashing the hosts 9-1.
Ryan Prior scored a hat-trick, while the rest of his teammates shared the goals between them, in a result that sends Brinklow up to third in Division D.
Despite the emphatic nature of the scoreline, it was the hosts who went in front through a stunner from Oliver O’Regan, with Prior’s introduction from the bench the catalyst to turn the game on its head.
A quickfire hat-trick quickly changed the balance of the game, with Daniel Frodsham and Kye Gilbey also finding the net to secure a commanding lead.
Harry Shorten added to the scoreline with a headed finish, opening the second-half scoring to allow Jake Lanwarne and Jed Jankowski to score debut goals.
Harrison Berridge rounded off the scoring with the ninth of the game, condemning Christ the King to a third straight defeat.
Commenting on the win, manager Steve Heighton said: “This was a terrific win but built on a strong defensive performance, with Will Rees and Dylan Smith very impressive.
“We did have seven different scorers today, so all round we were excellent.”
Brinklow next host sixth-placed Coventrians on Sunday (11am).
