Bright future for City's taekwondo youngsters

Coventry Editorial 28th Nov, 2017   0

TAEKWONDO: THE future appears bright for a group of young Taekwondo students in the city after two youngsters returned from the British Championships with medals.

Amelia  and David both picked up a bronze medal in their yellow belt divisions at the TAGB Taekwondo British Championships in Birmingham earlier this month.

The pair were just two of 1,500 fighters taking part, making the competition the biggest martial arts event in the UK.

Instructor Russell Bromage, who opened his coaching centre in September last year, said: “I’m incredibly proud of both Amelia and David.

“Taking part in a Championship for the first time is nerve racking and they coped with their nerves as well as remembering their training and performing really well.

“Hopefully this will be a stepping stone to future successes at forthcoming championships.”

Preparations are now underway for the 2018 season with the World Championships in July being the highlight.

Training at Coventry Taekwondo is available on Wednesdays at Lyng Hall School and Fridays at the AT7 Sports Centre from 6pm.
