COVENTRY’S Dylan Cheema won the BOXXER Series lightweight final with a unanimous decision victory over Rylan Charlton in his hometown.
Cheema, from Tile Hill, was spurred on by the vociferous home crowd at the Skydome Arena and produced the moment of the night when he knocked out Otis Lookham in the first round in the first quarter-final of the night.
‘The Natural’ then edged a split decision against Scott Melvin to book his place in the final and showcased his skills once again to be crowned champion and claim the £40,000 prize.
And despite an early onslaught from Charlton, Cheema took the punishment before responding with some excellent body shots and counter punches which ultimately wore his more experienced opponent down.
Cheema, a former two-weight world kickboxing champion, now has a 5-0 professional boxing record.
