Blaze swoop for Swedish forward

Coventry Editorial 13th Dec, 2018

COVENTRY Blaze have added Swedish forward Thom Flodqvist to their Elite League squad.

The 28-year-old arrives from his hometown club Sodertalje in Allsvenskan.

Flodqvist will remain contracted to Sodertalje but the club have agreed to loan the player to Blaze for the remainder of the season.

The 5ft 10in right-shooter boasts over 50 games at Sweden’s elite level and near 200 appearances in the second tier

He has also played 120 times at the third tier.

In addition to his experience in Sweden, Flodqvisthad enjoyed a stand-out year in Denmark with Frederikshavn White Hawks where, in 2013/14, his 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in 51 regular season and play-off appearances helped the Hawks to a bronze medal.

Blaze head coach Danny Stewart said: “In Thom we get a workhorse who can play in all situations.

“A right-handed guy who can come in and play all forward positions.

“He’s a shooter, who has had a lot of success in the past scoring goals and producing points.

“He will make us better in all areas and we look forward to having him in the line-up next week.”
