COVENTRY GODIVA HARRIERS runner Philip Gould won a silver medal at the Midland Counties Cross-Country Championships.

Gould was competing in the V40 Midlands category and his overall position of 91st secured the medal in blustery conditions in Mansfield.

The Men’s team finished fifth on the day, just 45 points off a medal, and were led superbly by Lenny Shail in 36th and Alistair Smith in 44th.

Godiva’s third runner home was Scott Hudspith in 50th with Jamie Hnatushka close on his tail in 56th, Damien Chamberfort in 63rd and Clark Roberts who completed the team in 67th.

Following Gould home for Godiva were Jason Brotherhood in 145th, Pete Eccleston in 150th, Michael Katsoulis in 185th and Jose Gonzalez in 211th.

And completing the Godiva finishers were Michael Todd and Joe Chalmers in 231st and 232nd in the exact same time.

The Ladies team had only four starters, with three finishing, which meant the team had not been completed.

Despite this, Julie Emmerson ran to fifth overall on the day with Amelia Starling continuing her fine form in 51st whilst Eleanor Crossland came home in 111th.

The club are encouraging members to join the Ladies teams to see what can be achieved.
