COVENTRY Godiva Harriers had six athletes compete at the Muller UK Athletics Championships held at the Manchester Regional Arena.

Godiva’s Charlie Roe, competing in the decathlon, set a new personal best of 7.07m in the long jump and came close to further PB’s in high jump (1.99m) and javelin (48.99m).

And Roe remained consistent throughout the competition to finish fourth overall with a new PB points tally of 6937 across the 10 events.

Fellow Godiva Yasmin Liverpool took part in both the 200m and 400m as she finished fourth in both races and clocked an impressive 23.90 seconds in the 200m heats to achieve her second fastest sprint in all conditions.

That was followed by a 54.38 secs run in the 400m heats in what was her fourth appearance at the British Championships.

Coventry’s Jake Minshull competed in the under-20 400m hurdles at his first British Outdoor Championships and crossed the line in 52.88 secs in a quick heat to finish fourth just 0.19 secs off his season’s best time.

Harriers athlete Alex Farquharson finished fifth in the long jump final with a leap of 7.54m, just 2cm off his season’s best jump.

Farquharson was competing at his fifth British Championships and returned to form having battled a recent injury.

Godiva’s Adam Fogg finished sixth in the 1500m heats in a time of 3 mins 50.97 secs as he agonisingly missed out on a place in the finals by just one second.

Lastly, Joseph Gilkes finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.95m at his first ever British Championships having struggled with a recent ankle injury in a promising breakthrough season.

The club would also like to congratulate Emmanuela Asante, Camiah Bennett, Daniella Bleach, Corey Nealon, Stephen Baffour, Rusciano Thomas-Riley, Ella Wilkinson, Reece Clarke and Imogen Lane on being selected for the West Midlands English Schools team.

And Minshull, Monica Davidson and Naomi Jones have all been selected for the Warwickshire English Schools team whilst Imogen has qualified for the English Schools multi events.
