Your chance to perform at Godiva Festival

GODIVA Festival’s battle of the bands-style competition is back and is once again offering local musicians the chance to perform on one of Godiva Festival’s main stages.

Bands or solo artists with a Coventry postcode are eligible to apply to play in one of the six heats.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, deputy leader and cabinet member for events said: “Godiva Festival has always provided a showcase for local musicians and artists to play and gain some invaluable experience.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what 2021’s Godiva Calling brings and encourage local artists to apply and to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.”

The heats are divided into: Indie Rock, Urban, Alternative, Heavy Rock/Metal, Singer/Songwriter/Acoustic and Under 18s.

Winners from each category will be awarded a slot to perform on one of the Godiva Festival’s stages.

Heats for the competition will take place at six venues across the city in July and August.

The Singer Songwriter heats will be taking place on 2, 9, 16 Aug, with the final 23 August at Millsys.

The Indie heats will be taking place on 6, 13, 20 Aug, with the final on 27 August at the New Albany.

The Alternative heats will be taking place on 10, 17 August, with the final  on 24 August at Metropolis.

The Rock/Metal heats will be taking place on 5, 12, 19 August, with the final on 22 August at the Arches, contact to apply.

The Urban heat/final will be taking place in 15 August at West Indian Community Centre, contact to apply.

The U18 heats and final will be taking place on 18 August at The Arches, contact to apply.

Sam McNulty, long time organiser of micro acoustic stages at Godiva Festival said: “The festival always gives the city and the local music scene a massive boost and Godiva Calling is the perfect way to get your talents noticed.
