A CHART-topping popstar will make a spectacular return to Coventry later this month to officially launch the festive season.
Fleur East will be the special guest at this year’s Christmas Light Switch-on on Wednesday, November 23.
Powered by Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) and supported by Coventry City Council, the event is expected to attract thousands of music fans from across the city for the annual event.
The ‘Sax’ singer will return to Coventry some six months after wowing her adoring fans at this year’s MTV Crashes, hosted by the Ricoh Arena.
Fleur said: “I am thrilled to be invited back to Coventry and be helping to switch on the Christmas lights this year.
“I love Christmas and I cannot wait to get back on stage to perform and celebrate with everyone who comes along.”
The singer-songwriter rose to fame on the X Factor in 2014, and became a worldwide sensation with her rendition of Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ – which went to number one on the UK iTunes Store chart.
Last year, she released her album ‘Love, Sax and Flashbacks’ to critical acclaim and achieved gold certification after selling more than 100,000 copies.
Trish Willetts, manager of Coventry BID – which organises the annual event, is urging everyone to head down between 5pm and 8pm to join in the festive fun and see Fleur turn on the lights at 7.30pm.
Trish said: “This is going to be a wonderful way to start off festive celebrations this year.
“We are so pleased that Fleur East has agreed to come to Coventry and be part of everything that we have going on.
“Fleur is an absolutely amazing talent and such a fantastic performer so to have her come back to the city is a real coup.”
Not only will Fleur be performing, but there will also be sets from a range of local talent and a dance competition to compliment Fleur’s performance.
Further information about the Christmas Lights Switch-on and all the events and attractions taking place during the night in Broadgate will be released soon.
