A WARNING has been issued to residents in Coventry about a rogue trader operating in the area.
It was sent out by the Wainbody, Westwood, Whoberley and Woodlands Neighbourhood Policing Team.
The advice follows an incident where the roof of a house was retiled but did not comply with building regulations.
People are warned ‘not to be conned by cowboys’ and to follow rules to protect themselves.
· Written quotations should be received before the job starts, and this quote MUST include a right to cancel
· No reputable tradesperson can start a big job at a moment’s notice
· The City Council need to be informed before a job like re-roofing can commence.
More advice is available on the Rogue Traders’ section of the West Midlands Police website here.
Further information is available from Coventry City Council here.
