THE HUGELY popular Earlsdon Festival will be returning this year and organisers are on the lookout for volunteers.
The annual festival, which takes place across May Bank Holiday Weekend, is expected to attract ten thousand people and will again be a genuine community event, organised by the community for the community.
Its status has come under threat in the past due to a lack of volunteers, but thanks to the energy, initiative and leadership of long-standing chairman Nigel Lee, enough local residents have volunteered for the key roles needed to organise this year’s event.
“The Earlsdon Festival is a fun day for young and old and a great day for the local community and for Coventry, but it also needs to be a safe day,” said fellow organiser Philip Wallace.
“Without these volunteers, sadly, the Festival cannot go ahead.
“The Festival is a great opportunity for local people to showcase their talents (music, dance, art, aerobics and fitness) and for local artisans and craftspeople to sell their products on the market stalls.
“Many of these stall holders have little or no other opportunity to show what they can do or sell their products. The Earlsdon Festival gives them that opportunity.
“It’s also great for the local economy, giving more established local traders, cafes, restaurants and shops one of their best days of the year.”
