THE NEW ‘Skint2Mint’ scheme to help Coventry’s young people be more savvy with money and build themselves a better future launched at the CBS Arena on Tuesday.
Its creator Kennedy Campbell was studying a BTEC towards a sporting career but more lockdown gave him time to think about his future.
His Jamaican nan told him what life was like when she arrived in the UK and about ‘pardners’ where a group of people put in money each month with one person getting a share every so often.
This inspired Kennedy and now during Skint2Mint sessions he teaches schoolchildren and young people about money, savings and property in a fun and relevant way.
Young people, the Lord Mayor of Coventry Coun John McNicholas and representatives from organisations, including the Prince’s Trust, Chamber of Commerce and banks, attended the launch, finding out about the scheme’s future plans and the practical property project and getting to play the Skint2Mint card game.
Kennedy said: “There was loads going on – it was a great chance to let people know more about Skint2Mint and how we could help them.”
