FIREFIGHTERS from Coventry Fire Station have created a new video to educate children on what to do if a smoke alarm goes off.

In the 3min 37sec film, youngsters are introduced to ‘Smoky the smoke alarm’ and the video also reminds people to test their smoke alarm once a week to ensure it is working properly.

It follows on from the success of their previous short film which was aimed at shedding light on fire crews’ roles and what happens when an emergency call comes in.

The team at Coventry Fire Station shared the video on Facebook and Twitter and said: “Do your young children know what to do if the smoke alarm goes off?

“Why not share this video with them which shows them what to do?”

The firefighters also urge youngsters to send in their pictures and videos of them testing their smoke alarms each week.

Anyone who does not have a smoke alarm can have them provided by the fire service. Call call 0800 389 5525 and quote 4300 for a Safe and Well call.
