AROUND 100 firefighters battled the massive blaze in Tile Hill, Coventry.

It broke out in Broadmere Rise just after 2.50pm on Saturday, June 3, and the first crew and engine was at the scene in four minutes.

A total of 14 residents in Broadmere Rise were evacuated at the time of the fire. There were no casualties.

Initially, five fire engines and a hydraulic aerial platform attended.

The incident involved a fire in a detached property, which spread to the shed of a neighbouring property.

Broad Lane was closed while firefighters dealt with the incident and residents living nearby were told to keep their doors and windows shut.

Crews remained at the incident throughout Saturday and into Sunday morning, extinguishing hotspots and damping down.

The fire was confirmed to be out at 11.25am on Sunday morning.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: “We conducted a number of re-visits throughout the day to check for hotspots.

“Our final re-visit was at 6.45pm, where no further hotspots were found.”

A fundraiser has since been set up to help the man who lost his home in the fire.
