Thrilled hospital radio volunteers celebrate shortlisting in national awards

THRILLED volunteers at Coventry Hospital Radio (CHR) are celebrating after the station was shortlisted in five categories at the National Hospital Broadcasting Awards.

The station itself has been nominated for the coveted Station of the Year Award.

CHR’s PUSB FA Cup Special – with Moz Baker, Clive Brookes, Graham Williams and Ellis Ainsle-Huffer – was shortlisted for the Best Special Event Award, while the CHR Country show with Lee Baker was nominated for Best Specialist Music Programme.

The Sky Blues-themed PUSB Weekly show with Moz Baker and Clive Brookes is up for the Best Programme with Multiple Presenters award, and Laura Dunn will contend the Female Presenter of the Year Award.

CHR PR Officer Simon Tidmarsh said: “We are over the moon that we have been nominated in five categories this year at the Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards.

“I would also like to add a big thank you to all our volunteers who give up their free time every week to keep the radio station going and keeping patients entertained while they are in hospital but also online.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday April 5 in Hinckley.

Coventry Hospital Radio broadcasts for free on bedside units in University Hospital Coventry 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is also available online at www.coventryhospitalradio.org, through the Coventry Hospital Radio App, and on smart speakers.
