THREE men have been arrested in a dawn raid early in the hours of this morning (Friday) in connection with a shooting in Coventry that saw a parked car blasted with a sawn-off shotgun.
Officers moved in on an address in Towpath Close, Exhall, just after 4am (June 10) and arrested the trio on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
It is suspected the men ? locals aged 19, 20 and 25 ? were involved in a shooting in Lauderdale Avenue, Holbrooks, in the early hours of Wednesday when an unattended Suzuki Swift car was damaged.
“No-one was hurt in the shooting ? however it is outrageous for anyone to discharge firearms in public as there is always the danger someone could be seriously hurt or killed,” said Coventry Police Chief Inspector Warren Little.
“This was a targeted, co-ordinated raid on an address in the city we suspect is linked to the shooting and detectives are currently questioning the men over the incident.”
Officers recovered a shotgun with a shortened barrel, plus ammunition and drugs during the warrant.
Investigations are on-going and anyone with information about the shooting ? or anyone that suspects illegal firearms possession in their community is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
