Thousands of origami birds form Coventry art installation to mark World Kindness Day

THOUSANDS of handmade origami butterflies have been transformed into a street art installation in Coventry to mark Kindness Day UK on Saturday, 13th November.

The butterflies have been made by groups from across the city including a community group in Hillfields, Coundon Day Care Centre, Coventry’s social prescribing network, Longford baptist church, Coventry

The project, which is part of the In Paint We Trust street art programme, comes on Kindness Day UK.

The butterfly installation at the Coventry University Hub, has been put in place by Creative Kindness, a group that meets up weekly at Coventry’s Memorial Park or Coventry Library to make crafts.




Jo Thatcher from Creative Kindness, said: “It’s been really cool to see the process of the whole installation coming together.

“We love that so many community groups and individuals have contributed to our project.”


The In Paint We Trust street art programme is currently focusing on working with local artists and community groups to bring their work to life in various locations across Coventry.

Trish Willetts, Coventry BID Director, added: “This is another great addition to the In Paint We Trust programme and we’re delighted to be supporting this, as well as The Show Windows Project.”
