Coventry to pay tribute to the armed forces with a service and parade tomorrow

Coventry Editorial 24th Jun, 2022   0

COVENTRY will be commemorating Armed Forces Day tomorrow with a special parade and service as a thank you to those who serve.

The service will take place in Holy Trinity Church at 10.30am, followed by a short parade around Broadgate an hour later.

The parade will feature past, present and future members of the armed forces and will be led by the Standard Triumph Pipe band.

Around 200 people are expected to form the parade and residents are invited to come and pay tribute.

Armed Forces Day honours serving members, veterans, reservists, cadets and the families who support them.

Coventry’s council house will be among the many buildings and famous landmarks to raise the Armed Forces Day flag.

Lord Mayor Coun Kevin Maton said: “Armed Forces Day has always been well supported in our city and I know many will again turn out to say their own thank you to those who serve and keep us safe.

“Our Armed Forces personnel and their families sacrifice so much and serve in so many ways. It will be an honour for our city to host the parade and I look forward to a great day in the city centre.”
