A TEENAGER has been treated for ‘multiple wounds’ after being stabbed in Coventry.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Station Street East, Coventry, to reports of a teenager being stabbed at around 7pm last night (January 3).

“A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital to be treated for multiple stab wounds, which are not believed to be life threatening.

“Investigations are on-going to establish the circumstances around this attack.

“Anyone with information can contact us, quoting log number 2031 of 03/01 via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight, call 101 anytime or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

It is the latest in a long line of incidents of knife crime in the city.

Several high-profile attacks have drawn national attention, including the fatal stabbings of The Specials’ Neville Staple’s grandson Fidel Glasgow and 16-year-old Jaydon James.

Knife crime has nearly doubled in Coventry over the last five years, West Midlands Police figures show.
