AFTER 18 months of Zoom rehearsals and streaming, live theatre returns to Coventry University’s Ellen Terry Theatre for the first time since 2019.
A new ‘absurd farce with a soft centre’ – Table Manners – by upcoming local writer OJC is being performed by newly-formed company ‘Theatre of the Eccentric’.
It centres on a host preparing the ‘most spectacular meal of all time for a very special group of guests’ where nothing has been left to chance – from the place settings to the exceptional menu, tailor made for each individual guest.
But an unexpected guest’s arrival, leads to the evening spiralling out of control as the host desperately tries to keep his cool and restore order.
Directed by Coventry University Theatre and professional practice students Oliver Clee and Gabriela Lysicanova and performed by students and graduates of that course, the work has been supported and funded by City of Culture.
The two-hour performances, with a 15-minute intermission, take place at the former Odeon Cinema at 7.30pm next Wednesday to Friday, September 8 to 10, and on September 15 and 16.
Tickets are £5 (waged) and £3.50 concessions, available from coventry2021.co.uk/what-s-on/table-manners-by-ojc/ or on the door.
