Sun set to shine on Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice Summer Fayre on Saturday

CHILDREN and families at Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice are able to enjoy a brighter and better maintained garden thanks to a group of volunteers.

A team of workers from Coventry-based insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher got their hands dirty when they helped refurbish and maintain the garden at the hospice in Easter Way.

Volunteers spent time weeding, clearing, and painting to give the hospice garden a new lease of life.

Zoё’s Place provides palliative care, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The partnership began after members of the Coventry firm’s team met staff from the children’s charity at a local networking event.

Inspired by their work, Katie Chedgey, account manager at Arthur J. Gallagher, ran the Coventry half marathon in support of the hospice.

Katie and the team were keen to do more, so visited the hospice to meet with staff and discuss ways they could help.

Katie said: “We visited Zoë’s Place and got to see first-hand the wonderful work it does, which only cemented our support.

“As well as fundraising, we wanted to offer some hands-on volunteering time and, after discussing with the team how best we could help the hospice, we decided to roll our sleeves up, dig in and spruce up their outdoor space.”

The team has also helped prepare the garden for the hospice’s Summer Fayre this Saturday (June 17) – and will return the following Monday to complete painting jobs and wash the hard landscaping areas.

Muna Chauhan, corporate manager at Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice, said: “Partnerships are really important for charitable organisations like ours, as they provide us with ongoing support from companies that have the resource and manpower to really make a difference.

“I’d like to thank the team at Arthur J. Gallagher for taking the time to volunteer at the hospice and look forward to growing our relationship further.”

Katie added: “Since we’ve begun our work with the charity, and shared our experiences with all of our colleagues in the Coventry office, more and more of the team have been inspired to get involved. We look forward to a long partnership with Zoë’s Place.”
