Stunning drone show coming to Coventry's War Memorial Park on Sunday

Ryan Smith 13th May, 2022

PUT a note in your diary to see ‘Our Wilder Family’, a visual celebration of art and nature featuring 360 drones at the War Memorial Park this Sunday evening.

The display will start just after 9pm and will use the drones as pixels to create a record-breaking 16-minute-long light show.

The show will be visible from up to 2.5km and those watching it in the park will get the full experience including the chance to listen to the show’s soundtrack.

‘Our Wilder Family’ was the brainchild of Celestial and commissioned by the Coventry City of Culture Trust.

They have also partnered with City Voices and schools from over the city to create an incredible display with BAFTA and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Dan Jones, who has created the score for the show alongside local poets and communities.

City of Culture Trust’s creative director Chenine Bhathena said: “As we near the end of our year as UK City of Culture, we hope Celestial’s epic symphony of drones will move audiences and engage our citizens with the beauty and joy of the natural world around us.

Dan Jones’s work on the soundtrack is the perfect bookend to the year, made with local schoolchildren to capture their thoughts and hopes, as we all plan towards a greener future.”

For those unable to watch the show in person, there will be a live stream by Limitless Broadcast, and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire will be among many local radio stations who will be following the event.
