THE senior animator of Hollywood hits Spider-Man: No Way Home and Black Panther will be the star of a Creative Careers Day in Coventry.

Michael Morgan will be one of the keynote speakers for the event, which will be held by ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the screen industries.

He will be telling the audience how he made his way from Birmingham to work for Disney on some of their most successful ever projects.

Michael, who has also worked on the hit TV show “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, will also be reviewing people’s animation portfolios at the ‘Getting into Animation’ workshop.

This will be the first time that the careers day will be held in Coventry, and it will take place at the Daimler Powerhouse Creation Centre on Saturday, May 21 from 11.30am.

The careers day will include workshops, panel sessions and networking opportunities, and its hoped that the event will help the aspiring young creatives from Coventry to succeed beyond the City of Culture year.

Other highlights include a workshop in digital production and content creation from the award-winning Creative Director of Rebel Creatives, Amrit Singh.

Coventry City of Culture Trusts’ head of content and digital broadcast, Hayley Pepler will also hold a ‘Working in Games and Animation’ session.

The event has been supported by public funding to ScreenSkills from Arts Council England and its hoped that it will help to secure a lasting legacy for the UK City of Culture.

ScreenSkills head of careers, Margaret Burgin said: “It’s great to be working with partners in Coventry to help local people find out more about the range of job roles and opportunities in the screen and creative industries.

“Inspiring people to consider a career in a sector which is booming and where the UK is internationally renowned is a great way of creating a legacy for the amazing City of Culture initiative.”
