A SENIOR Jaguar Land Rover figure has been appointed to the board of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP).

Mike Crone, purchasing and property director at JLR, has joined the 16-strong board of the partnership, which is responsible for driving forward the local economy.

Mr Crone leads all purchasing activities relating to the car manufacturing giant’s international busines sexpansion programme and is responsible for the company’s global property function.

Nick Abell, a property expert and chairman at law firm Wright Hassall, has become the CWLEP vice-chairman.

Jonathan Browning, chairman of the CWLEP, said the appointments will strengthen the board.

He added: “Mike has a role crucial to the success of Jaguar Land Rover as it drives forward its expansion both in the UK and across the globe, and therefore has a huge interest in the region achieving its economic potential.

“I am certain he will bring a great deal of expertise – both generally and also in field of advanced manufacturing.

“Nick has been an invaluable member of the board over the past few years and I am delighted that he has agreed to be vice-chairman.”

Crone, who lives in Kenilworth, started his career at Rover Group and worked with BMW in Munich before joining Deloitte Consulting.

He then worked in global telecoms before joining Jaguar Land Rover in 2013.

Abell is a Stratford-upon-Avon resident and a trustee of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

He replaces Karl Eddy, who has stood down as vice-chairman but remains on the board.
