Residents decide where Coventry City Centre Police carry out speed checks after poll

Coventry Editorial 13th Jul, 2021   0

OFFICERS from Coventry City Centre Police are warning motorists to watch their speed as they take to the streets to carry out a monitoring operation.

The team conducted a poll on Twitter, asking residents yesterday whether they wanted to see speed checks carried out Sky Blue Way, Gosford Street or East Street.

Sky Blue Way was chosen overwhelmingly, gaining 61.1 per cent of the vote, with Gosford Street second with 22.2 per cent.

With Sky Blue Way heavily congested this morning, officers conducted speed checks on Terry Way.

They praised the majority of motorists after only catching one motorist breaching the 30mph limit by travelling at 35mph between 9.30am and 10am. He was given a verbal warning.

One motorcyclist was snapped riding at 32mph in a 20mph on Gosford Street and one car on Binley Road was being driven at an approach to roadworks at 48mph in a 30mph zone.

Police will return to Sky Blue Way this afternoon to carry out more monitoring so motorists are urged to ensure they do not break the limits.
